Running on the ice

Have you ever had the chance to run on the ice? Do not considering puddles. Today was my first time!

It is believed that running on the ice is true check of your running technice efficiency. Sprinters may not be interested in it, cause they need speed, but stiers might want to try at least once.

The main reason why you being a stier should try it is that this type of running exagerates all your mistakes, gaps and weaks. If you need an experienced coach to tell you about your running mistakes on the road, because on your own you don't feel them, on the ice you'll be able to feel each and every... but you still need a coach to tell you how to fix that :).

Before you've decided to try this semi-extrimal activity, make sure you have all you need - gypsum and analgesic winter running shoes with spikes!

The most boring marathon

Marathon is a dream for runner-beginner! There is so much proud in this phrase "I run marathon!", which is not actually the same what you feel in the process of achieving this goal.

15k and first blister!

Awful rainy Saturday morning for me personally looked like morning of a big battle with very worthy and experienced adversary - my laziness!

As I've written before - Saturday is the day of big run - 15k. And I did it. See how it was:

5am - got up with smile and had a cap of hot tea with cookies. Hour of googling and reading motivational articles helped me to wake up and tune.

7am - It's show time. It's time to go out of your comfort zone.
As I already new, 1 lap around the lake ~ 1,4 ะบ, which meant I had to run 11 laps. From previous experience I new that in 1hr of running my body will ask for carbohydrates, and I took few of my favorite cookies with me. Ideally it should be specially prepared gels, but I was not good in this yet, that's why - 3 cookies (there is something magic in this number)...

Enough "bla bla". Easy warm-up, tendons are ready, heart beats in right rhythm...

5k - First goal achieved!

Third workout. This fairytale number brought first achievement. From the very beginning (it was week ago, but sounds co cool) my first goal was to run 5k - and I did it! (feeling of victory without competitions :))

Here are few observations I did during this achievement:

Small achievement, small step forward

Uuuuuh, it is so cool to start your day from personal achievement. Let me explain. Almost everything like previous time: family is sleeping, heart is beating, etc. etc. The only difference - I don't guess any more, I know. (I have to work on my explanations, right :))

So, if you've read my previous article, you know about my Ironman dream, and about first workout as well. Next workout - next article!

Let me start from the pleasant results. Although I felt worse running today, I kept the same level.

First step towards Ironman!

Family is still sleeping and hart is beating. Body is full of emotions and muscles are ready to repeat movements... This is what I'm feeling after my first workout, which is official opening of Ironman preparation season.

Several weeks ago I read Dmitri Volosins article and was literally infected by Ironman idea. There are a lot of things you can take example of Dmitri, but this one is about setting up a goal, and achieving it.

OK, let's switch from theory to practice. In order to be able to track progress and later to remember what was in the beginning, probably I should mention current state: I'm 26, height 185 and weight 88 (I believe you are good if you can do at least 10 pull-ups). Today I did six laps around the lake (previous time I did only 3) and, probably it is around 1.5 km. I can swim around 200 meters without any risk for my health, and I have no idea how long I can do cycling, because I simply don't have it.

My current form is more or less clear, so it's time to give impossible promises set up goals. Obviously I don't have possibility to hire coaches in all three disciplines, that's why I'll try to achieve this goal on my own, having Internet and friends as source of information.
